Hi! I'm Sanika, an illustrator running a small one-person studio called Sanial Studio (Sa-nee-al), where my colleagues - the iPad Air and Huion tablet - and I try not to call HR on each other.

I illustrate children's books, packaging, and brand illustrations, drawn to a little whimsy and whole lot of emotional storytelling. I believe everything carries its own story, so does every illustration I make.

My process usually starts with staring blankly out the window near my desk until I nail the feeling of a scene. From there I move into research, where I sometimes end up down a rabbit hole of unexpectedly interesting topics.

Once that groundwork is done, I move into thumbnailing, sketching, and finalizing the colors before I begin inking and finishing up the piece. I work mainly in Procreate and Photoshop, whichever the project calls for.

When I'm not working on an illustration, you'll find me either bullying myself into going for a run (just to observe more, nature holds more stories than anything else), reading a book, crocheting, or cooking, once in a while.

I'm currently open to working on new projects, if something resonates, say

Fun fact: Sanial is basically my mum's name (Alka) and mine, merged together, because I firmly believe I got my creative gene from her.
